Selection Skills 101

Technology is not the only answer.
Learn how to consistently select the right candidates for the job.

Choosing the wrong candidate costs time, effort, and money. Does your interview and selection process measure up to the standards you require for success? Empyrean Management Group’s Selection Skills 101 seminar is the answer.

EMG developed this Behavioral Interview supported training to help Human Resources professionals as well as Hiring Managers avoid the common but avoidable obstacles that come up during the Interview and Selection process. This four hour program focuses on developing the Competencies that make someone successful in an organization and incorporating them into easily identified hiring profiles. Decision Makers leave this program with confidence they are hiring based on information elicited during interviews not because of a great resume or cheery demeanor. The legal ramifications of the interview process are covered in depth with an emphasis on how not to put the employer and the Interviewer in hot water in the first place.

Selection Skills 101 is taught by Empyrean Management Group, Inc.’s founder and CEO Mike Kalinsky. He has taught this class to HR professionals and decision makers in companies ranging in size from start-up to Fortune 500 across the US. An accomplished speaker, Kalinsky has lectured on cutting edge HR topics at SHRM and PIHRA conferences as well as colleges and universities such as Fordham and Hampton University. In 2005 this dynamic business leader was named by Temple University’s Fox Business School as one of the “40 under 40” to watch in the Philadelphia region.

Sessions are being planned for Philadephia, PA, Dallas, TX, Chicago, IL, and Long Beach, CA early in 2008. Seating is limited at these interactive sessions, and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please contact Kristy Boldt at 1-866-773-9900 or kboldt@hiresmartpeople.com for more information.

EMG Retention Programs

Maximize Your Investment in Your Most Important Asset: Your People

  • Does your company think Hawaiian Shirt Fridays will go a long way towards keeping people happy and content?
  • Is a Holiday Dinner is a good replacement for a year end bonus?

When you consider the cost-per-hire within most companies and then add in how long it takes for someone to ramp up, retention becomes the most important issue our clients face.

Employee retention starts long before the dinners and the loud shirts. It starts with your first interview. Here at EMG we stress one word to our clients: consistency. Deliver an honest, forthright, and positive message to candidates, and employee retention rates will skyrocket. Sound simplistic? It works!

  • Empyrean clients have experienced better than 90% retention rates for employees that were hired through our proven process, in industries as varied as pharmaceutical, financial services, medical education, and engineering.

Whether it is helping to design a more effective interview process, creating or revamping orientation, or helping to identify the reasons why people leave, EMG's HR and recruiting professionals can work with you put the tools in place to start the retention process before it becomes a battle against attrition.

EMG Compensation and Title Review Programs

Keep Pace With The Industry Standards

Our compensation and title review services ensure consistency and accuracy within your organization.

  • Is a Project Manager at your company a Project Manager at your key competitors?
  • What is the difference between a Project Coordinator and an Administrative Assistant?
  • How much should they be paid?

Questions like these come up everyday on Empyrean projects, across industries, and across the country. Our team of professionals works with our clients every day to ensure that job titles actually have something in common with job descriptions, and that people are compensated fairly for their hard work.

EMG Researchers spend countless hours on the Net, on the phone, and in industry trade journals to determine whether you are setting the pace for your industry, keeping pace with your competitors, or lagging behind in key areas. A title can be very important for your employees and their perception of their importance to your company. What they are paid for their hard work is usually just as important, if not more, especially if it turns out you are not competitive on compensation.
